Practice net now ready for use

The first of the practice nets was completed and opened last Thursday.

This was built as part of the plan to construct a new practice area consisting of two practice nets as well as a specially built chipping area. The plan also includes increasing the size of the putting green, and creating a purpose built area for trolleys and bags. Hopefully a bbq will be built in time for this summer.

Many thanks to Mark Pettyfer, Keith Collins and Ken Scott who completed the work.

Simon and Nigel tried their Best but the Steves were just Toogood

On a chilly and bright Saturday present Captain Steve Toogood and our next Vice-Captain Steve Best (pictured telling club professional Mark Rodbard about the win) won the Autumn Fours with a close win over Simon Hooper and Nigel Nash.

Trailing by 3 holes when walking off the 10th green Nigel and Simon clawed their way back to all-square, but the two Steves managed to get their noses in front on the 17th with some fine recovery play, so going up the 18th 1-up a half on that hole was enough to take the title.

New TV installed for 2016!

A new TV has been installed at the club for your enjoyment in 2016, from an anonymous donor (Steve Toogood). With the up and coming European Championships on terrestrial tv, we hope as many people come down and watch live events at our club. People will still be able to stand in front of this on a Sunday morning, masking Match of the Day, but less complaints are expected from Captain Wilson with Chelsea's form. The photo shows the effortless way the old tv slid off the wall (if walls could talk!).

The 10th hole regains some yardage

The 10th tee will be lengthened by approximately 10 yards in the spring to 210 yards. This will make it the longest par 3 on the course.
The new "black" tee will be reserved for special medal events such as the Club Championship and will not be in everyday use.
Work is already underway clearing the area, so you can wander past the current whites to the new tee to see what is in store in 2016!
